Breakfast in Patong

IMG_3043These fried doughnuts are popular all over Thailand. They are best made within 15 minutes of consumption. IMG_3044The doughnuts are flash fried, and then dipped in tea, condensed, sweet milk or pandan cream. Of the street fast foods, these are the safest, freshest, and least expensive. They are vegetarian, unless cooked in animal fat. Animal fat is more expensive than vegetable oil, so they are probably cooked in vegetable oil. They can be purchased for anywhere from two to five baht each. Their crunchy exterior lasts as long as an hour, so they make a great gift for your office if you need to make new friends at work, but are running late!
